October – All Month Long

Olde Mistick Village will be hosting Scarecrows in the Village this year from Saturday, September 28 through Thursday, October 31st. Come explore what each merchant has in store for their scarecrow display and support local business! Voting will take place throughout the village using QR codes throughout October. Don’t miss out on helping announce “Best in Crow”, “Most Representative”, and “Most Seaworthy”, leading into yet another festive fall season!

Penguin Run Walk Waddle 5K

We’re thrilled to announce that our annual Penguin Run Walk Waddle is back, taking place on Sunday, October 27th. This year, we’re introducing an all-new route on fully paved roads, able to accommodate runners of all ages and abilities. You can even bring strollers along for the ride! Costumes are encouraged. Choose between the 5K run or a 2-mile walk. Join a fundraising team or race solo as we raise money for our endangered African Penguins. You and your team will have a chance to win exciting prizes, and goodies. All participants receive complimentary admission to the Aquarium for the day.

Haunted Tree Trails and Spooky Glow in the Park

Climb with us the month of October in our Haunted TreeTrails forest. Scary climbs all month long that end with a special celebration Sunday, October 27. Arrive in costume for Halloween Fun and join a parade of contestants vying for TreeTrails swag, park tickets and lots of surprises! Rumor has it there may be a convening of witches to dance and celebrate with us!

The Annual Halloween Parade & Trunk-or-Treat is back this year in Downtown Mystic! Join the Mystic Fire Department, Stonington Police Department, Groton Town Police, Stonington High School and the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce on  Sunday, October 27th for a spooktacular Halloween event.  1:00PM Parade begins at Friar Tucks on Water Street and ends at the Mystic Fire Department around 1:30pm. Trunk & Treat at the Mystic Fire House: 1:30PM – 3:00PM.

Happy Halloween at Mystic Seaport Museum! Children come dressed in your spookiest, silliest, and most spectacular costumes for this annual community trick-or-treating event. Enter for FREE through the North Entrance from 3:00-6:00 p.m. No registration required.

3rd Annual Apple Festival

Join us on October 19 & 20 for our third annual Mystic Apple Festival. This festival celebrates everything fall, and will host vendors with arts and crafts, specialty hand-knit products, and everyone’s favorite seasonal foods with maple, pumpkin, apple, and caramel flavors! Trick-Or-Treat in the Village

On Halloween day, Thursday, October 31st, from 4-6pm, children and their families are invited to Olde Mistick Village for the annual ‘Trick or Treat Candy Handout’. As another safe family event in OMV, over the years local and surrounding communities have come to anticipate this as an alternative to trick or treating, or as an additional fun activity for their children on Halloween day.

Congratulations to David Standridge, from The Shipwright’s Daughter, on recently winning the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northeast!
