Three Coffee Spots Brewing in Mystic

A year at home didn’t stop Mystic locals from flocking to trending coffee spots in the area. Every Mystic local and tourist alike has a go-to spot for their daily caffeine fix. But, we all know that coffee can be so much more than just a jolt of caffeine, there is a world of taste to explore and our beloved Mystic coffee shops won’t leave you wanting. We sought out the best coffee spots in Mystic – and believe me there are a lot – and found a few favorites that you must visit the next time you are in the area! Some have a rich history and others are robust with the latest trends, each is equally perfect.

Mystic Depot Roasters

Mystic Depot Roasters is located in a unique location, right at the Mystic Train Station. When you visit this fun coffee spot you will find specialty craft coffees, nostalgic snacks, gifts and an amazing sandwich counter.  If you want a bit of history and allure with your coffee, this is the perfect spot. With a history spanning back to 1905, the train station has been updated to house great food and superb coffee. In February 2019, the Westerly Sun wrote “If “Cheers” could be a coffee shop instead of a bar, it would be Mystic Depot Roasters. We all need a coffee spot where everyone knows your name!

Deviant Craft Coffee & Donuts

Deviant Craft Coffee & Donuts has taken Eastern Connecticut by storm. A small-batch gourmet donut and craft coffee shop, Deviant Donuts is located in the Olde Mistick Village in Mystic, CT. Established in the fall of 2017, Deviant stays up to date with local interests and latest trends. Although the main feature at Deviant is the exquisite donuts that are crafted and made by hand – from the filling, to the glazes, all the way to the garnish – the coffee is robust, fresh, and decadent. Their drink offerings include decadent seasonal lattes, cold brews and traditional espresso drinks. Everything you get at this adorable shop is top quality. What we love best about the team at Deviant Craft Coffee & Donuts is that they bring local providers on board for collaborations and support local businesses like themselves the best they can.

Lamplighter Trading Company

Not your average coffee shop, the Lamplighter Trading Company offers high quality coffee and house blended teas. Think coffee shop meets general store, a specialty shop curated by owners James Maple and Nicole Anderson. When you visit Lamplighter you will be met with the same charm and coziness you can expect from Mystic. Everything about this place exudes their motto, “quality over quantity”. Adorned with a 300-year-old Danish white oak bar and countertops made of the same materials that were used to renovate the Mayflower II at the Mystic Seaport Museum. Definitely a spot worth checking out on your next trip to Mystic.
