Halloween Happenings in Mystic, Connecticut

There’s too much excitement surrounding Halloween to limit the fun to just one day! Here in Mystic, we like to celebrate the tricks and treats for as long as we can. If you’re looking for some spooky fun to get you in the Halloween spirit, you’ll definitely want to keep reading!

What Lurks Beneath

October 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 |  6 – 8:30 pm

Do you believe in sea monsters?  Discover “what lurks beneath” at Mystic Seaport Museum! Explore the indoor and outdoor spaces as the mysteries of the ocean come out to play: see incredible Kraken-inspired tentacles climbing the rigging of the Charles W. Morgan whaleship, take a spooky guided tour to hear about the creatures of the deep from the sailors that encountered them, view fascinating and creepy marine specimens from our collection, and check out our newest exhibit of glass invertebrates in Spineless. There will be activities for the whole family, like creating your own sea monster or mermaid craft, and printing a card with historic sea monster illustrations. Halloween-themed food and beverages will be available at Spouter Tavern!

Seaside Shadows

The month of October is the perfect time to spend an evening touring the darker side of Mystic with Seaside Shadows. Tours include tales of the true, gruesome and historic past of Mystic and tales of the paranormal encounters at these haunted locations today. Hear stories of Revolutionary heroes, industrial revolution hot spots, and Union soldiers of the Civil War still seen in their spectral form on the Downtown Mystic tour. Or try the Graveyard Ghost tour at a burial ground established in the 1660’s. The Graveyard Tours tell tales of some of Mystic’s most famous residents. Tours are offered six nights a week, and can be booked on their website.

Mystic Halloween Parade and Trunk or Treat

October 29 | 1- 3:00pm

The Annual Halloween Parade & Trunk-or-Treat is back this year in Downtown Mystic! Join the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce & Mystic Fire Department for this spooktacular Halloween event. The parade begins at 1:00 at Friar Tucks on Water St. and finishes at the Mystic Fire Department around 1:45. Beginning at 1:30, the Trunk or Treat will take place in the rear parking lot at Mystic Fire Department. Snacks will be provided in addition to candy, and there will be music and fun games like mummy wrapping!

Trick-or-treating in Mystic

October 31

Come dressed in your spookiest and silliest costumes and enjoy trick or treating at Mystic Seaport Museum. The Museum opens its doors for FREE to the community from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Kids can also trick or treat at Olde Mistick Village. Their Halloween tradition continues as the shops will welcome costumed characters with yummy candy! from

4:00 – 6:00 pm. Bring your costumed pup too!
