Mystic Seaport is the nation’s leading maritime museum. Founded in 1929, this landmark is home to four National Historic Landmark vessels, including the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world. It features a working preservation shipyard, a recreated 19th-century seafaring village, fascinating exhibits, and a planetarium. You’ll even have the chance to get out on the water and explore the historic Mystic River from mid-May through mid-October. The museum’s collection includes over 500 historic vessels and one of the largest collections of maritime photography in the country, while the Maritime Gallery is the country’s foremost gallery specializing in contemporary marine art and ship models.
